The Vanish – ‘Heartbeat’

If you’re a dedicated JJJ or FBI listener, then you’ve probably already heard this track on the wireless. The Vanish are Brooklyn-based, Sydney-raised Mike Elmgreen and Peter Enestrom, who have arrived at nu-wave electro via their tween punk rock days and a mutual stint in starched Manhattan suitdom. Successfully resurrecting themselves from nine-to-five beigeness, these guys have managed to produce some seriously danceable numbers, which I would download right here if I were you.

The Vanish came about in 2008 when two long-time friends, Mike Elmgreen and Peter Enestrom , decided to re-create their days playing in punk bands growing up in Australia and create their own cases. Despite living on opposite coasts of the US, the pair exchanged song ideas over the internet from their San Francisco and New York City studios. Their style quickly developed into a boiling fusion of post-punk, nu-wave and electro, complimented by lyrics dealing with identity and conformity. Now based out of New York City, TheVanish came to the attention UK Label, Eye Industries who promptly signed them after the band captured the attention of the blog world in 2009.
